Biography

Jayson Dobney is the Frederick P. Rose Curator in Charge in the Department of Musical Instruments at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. He has published articles about the collecting of fine violins, the development of the American guitar, the development of the trap set, side drums in the United States, and European kettledrums. He is a pianist, organist, and drummer and love music of all styles. He is deeply interested in using digital technology and social media to bring music and musical instrument history to a general audience.
