Biography
Costantino Mastroprimiano is a distinguished figure in the field of fortepiano performance. Following studies in piano and chamber music with Michele Marvulli, Guido Agosti, and Riccardo Brengola, he specialized in the fortepiano and now teaches historical piano at the Conservatory of Music in Perugia, as well as in numerous masterclasses. His performance activity as both pianist and fortepianist is closely linked to his research interests. He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Italy and in France, Austria (Musikverein – Brahms Saal, Wiener Symphoniker Chamber Season 2000), Bulgaria, Slovenia, Germany, and Belgium. Notable projects include a complete performance of Mozart’s chamber music with piano (1991) and the first fortepiano performance of Bach’s Goldberg Variations with the Fourteen Canons BWV 1089 (1996). He is the founder of the ensemble Concert sans Orchestre, dedicated to chamber repertoire and historical transcriptions on original instruments, and co-founder of the Forthepiano Trio (2009) with Nicholas Robinson and Marco Testori.
