Biography

Andreas Edlund is a Swedish harpsichordist, clavichordist, organist, continuo player, and music editor specializing in historically informed performance practice. He has extensive experience as a soloist, continuo player, ensemble director, and educator, with a particular focus on Baroque music and opera. As a music editor for Swedish Musical Heritage at the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, he works on critical editions of Swedish repertoire and contributes to the new complete edition of the music of Johan Helmich Roman.
Edlund is currently a doctoral student in Musical Performance and Interpretation at the Academy of Music and Drama, University of Gothenburg, and is part of the REM@KE research project. His doctoral research explores how embodied musical knowledge develops through the interaction between performer, instrument, musical repertoire, and historical sources, with a particular focus on the relationship between the clavichord and harpsichord. Through artistic practice, instrument-based experiments, and the study of historical performance treatises, he investigates what the clavichord’s particularly sensitive auditory and tactile feedback can reveal about harpsichord technique and historically informed musical performance.
