The Department of Musicology and Cultural Heritage is pleased to invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship as part of the ERC Synergy Project REM@KE(Reconstructing Embodied Musical Knowledge at the Keyboard). The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary research team based in Italy, Sweden, and the UK, collaborating with leading scholars in organology, empirical and historical musicology, music cognition, artistic research, psychoacoustics, and digital humanities.

 

The assignment aims to prepare the performance score of one of Bernardo Pasquini’s still-unpublished oratorios, oversee its première performance, and contribute to drafting the programme notes in preparation for the critical edition. The assignment takes place within the Zenti–Pasquini micro-ecology of the ERC Synergy project REM@KE. The researcher will work with the project team under the supervision of the PI, M. Guido. The première is scheduled for 15 October 2026 during the Göteborg International Organ Festival.

Eligibility

The studentship is open to both EU and international applicants. Candidates should meet the following criteria:

Essential Criteria

  • A Master’s degree in Musicology (or equivalent), obtained no more than 6 years ago on the deadline date of this call.
  • For international candidates, it is essential to prove fluency in Italian.

Desirable Criteria

  • PhD in Musicology or equivalent
  • Previous experience in critical editions of vocal works from the 17th and 18th centuries.
  • Expertise in basso continuo and partimento in Italy between the 17th and 18th centuries.
  • Documented skills in transcription and typesetting of musical scores.
  • Previous research in archival and documentary collections.

Funding and Benefits

  •  € 24.000,00  per year, before taxes.
  • Travel allowance for conferences, workshops, and research trips.
