Biography
Giacomo Fiocco is Associate Professor of Environmental and Cultural Heritage Chemistry within the Department of Musicology and Cultural Heritage at the University of Pavia and Technical Manager of the Arvedi Laboratory of Non-Invasive Diagnostics, located at the Museo del Violino in Cremona. He was awarded the 2021 Improta Prize of the Italian Association of Archaeometry (AIAr), which honors the best early-career researcher in the field of archaeometry, and the 2024 Rossi Manaresi Medal of the Italian Chemical Society’s Division of Environmental and Cultural Heritage Chemistry (SCI-ABC) for his outstanding contribution to the field.
His research is dedicated to developing innovative analytical methods for the study and characterization of cultural heritage materials, with a special focus on historical musical instruments.
